New Year Greetings to all our Paulshof Residents and Businesses
With the arrival of 2012, your PRRA committee plans to focus on two
major outcomes:
- Better security and a lower crime-incident rate.
- One inclusive, growing Paulshof community incorporating all
areas of Paulshof, where every resident has a sense of belonging as
being part of one community.
Plans and a strategy to make these outcomes happen started in 2011 and
as we move forward into 2012, meetings, communication and
participation by all the relevant stakeholders is happening. But we
need everyone in the community on board. Start out by ensuring that
you are a member of the PRRA by downloading a member application form
from our website: Click Here

Studio of Celtic Dancing in 1988. Teaching Irish and Highland dancing
in Komari Avenue, Sue is renowned for her dedication to these dance
forms and her achievements over 38 years are numerous. Her lovely

Paulshof resident gives walking trails a facelift
Thumbs up to Paulshof resident Martin van Zyl who has embarked upon a
maintenance and development programme, cleaning up existing pathways
and trails in the Paulshof East Section that have existed for years
plus adding new features such as ramps, horse jumps and alternative
routes.
“The maintenance has really been done with a weed-eater and a spade
and a lot of energy (elbow grease),” says Martin. “The trail is
constructed to be friendly for all Walkers, Horse Riders and Mountain
Bikers – including children. There are some challenging parts; some
ramps and horse jumps in the ‘Magic Circle’ section.”
Key points that residents should be aware of so as to start enjoying
the trail is that support from residents is vital to maintaining the
trail, developing additional sections, consulting to come up new
ideas, features and additional routes, especially with regard to the
future development of the Park.
Martin would welcome any comments, concerns or suggestions at

Paulshof MAD Domestic Watch Meeting –
Next meeting 16 February, 2pm, The German Club
All domestic workers in Paulshof are encouraged to attend the Paulshof
MAD Domestic Watch Meeting held once monthly by Penny Steyn and her
team from Domestic Watch and SAPS Training. They always present a
highly inspirational and motivating lesson to alert our domestic
workers as to how to recognise and avoid a criminal, what to look out
for and what traps to avoid falling into.
“It is said that statistically 70% of all house robberies happen as a
result of inside information leaking out, so I believe this is an
excellent way to start 2012 with this multi-faceted lesson.” ~ Penny
Steyn
Penny Steyn has this to say: “I loved writing this lesson called ‘Who
Is Your Friend’? One of the messages that our ex-convict gave, who
presented to all suburbs last year, was that part of their criminal
crime method was to have a charming chosen one in the team ‘make a
proposal’ to a potential domestic victim and before you know it they
are calling regularly in very fancy cars, (always different cars mind
you) and because the proposer was taking them to VERY fancy
restaurants, and the vehicle had already done ‘most of the talking -
in fact 95% of the talking’ all they needed was to woo the potential
victim, and then on the chosen day they would strike. How you ask?
Well the usual phone call comes through saying ‘Hi my honey pie, I am
at the gate’. Meanwhile he is sitting in a shabeen drinking a beer
while his team attacks the property. The proposed domestic worker
NEVER sees the proposer ever again! So this is a good lesson to alert
our precious domestic workers about ‘Who Is Your Friend’.

details and dates for the year. For further information, contact Penny
Steyn on 011 783 8776 or 082 461 6968.
